I new next to nothing about this going in, except the little bit I read on the back of the book. I make a habit of looking at the graphic novel section of my local library when I'm in there. They have a decent selection, and every now and then I try something random. I'm glad I did.
Here's the broad story: Every 90 years, the a group of normal people are merged with the spirit of a various dieties. They receive supernatual abilities, fame, and adoration from people everywhere. They are known as "The Pantheon." However, they do not have the ability to refuse, and in two years they will be dead.
Not everyone is convinced they are indeed gods, and some who are convinced are not thrilled about their existence.
This volume introduces you to Laura Wilson, a 17 year old fangirl of The Pantheon. She meets and befriends Lucifer, and hijinks ensue.
It took me a bit to get into this one, but I quickly became hooked. It's an interesting story. I loved American Gods and how it put the various stories together. This is sort of in that vein but it's not a copy of the idea.
I definitely recommend this one.
