TL;DR: Kate Bechinsale in leather still doesn't make this worth watching.

This is the second time I have watched this movie. I'm currently on a bit of a vampire kick, so I decided to check this out again and see if it's as bad as I remember.

It is.

It's a very cool looking movie. You can see the Matrix influence. Black leather, lots of guns, vampires dropping from heights and cooly walking away.

But even that only goes so far. Early on there's a shootout between vampires and Lycans (werewolves) on a crowded subway platform. I've no idea how many bullets are fired by the Lycans, and Selene (Beckinsale) has some sort of automatic handgun thing that only runs out of bullets when she's in a cool pose to reload. But a couple minutes in, all those rounds popped off, and they've shot three people. One a crowded platform. And one was just a bystander.

The plot is OK. Performances are not. Selene, the "elite killer" gets goo-goo eyed over a human when she sees him. They fall in love, apparently? But why? It's a mess. A nicely dressed up, stylized mess, but a mess.

Naturally I'm going to watch the rest of the ones in the franchise, just for kicks.
