In which I'm inspired by Rachael Ray
I'm not a big Rachael Ray fan. I'm not even a small one, really. However, Amber and I are big Jimmy Fallon fans. So when she was on his show the other night we watched it.
She made a cocktail from her new book, which I had never heard of: a michelada. It involved hot sauce and Dos Equis, so of course I had to try it. It came out pretty well. Different, but good.
I checked several recipes, but none seemed like the one she made. So I winged it. One thing I'd change: most the recipes I read said to not use a dark beer, so I went with Dos Equis Lager. It looked to me like Rachael Ray used the Ambar version, and I think that would be better. Your mileage may vary.
As I said, I winged it, but this is what I did:
- Put1 small can (5.5 oz) tomato juice to cocktail shaker.
- Add in a couple dashes each. of hot sauce and Worcestershire.
- Squeeze in half a lime.
- Shake shake shake
- Pour over ice in two (optionally salted) glass.
- Fill up the rest with beer of your choice.
I can't belivee I'm going to say it but, I may have to order her book for the cocktails at least.
